The Conservative Counselor
Politics • Spirituality/Belief • Culture
A conservative counselor's perspective on the state of culture and mental health. Part psychology, philosophy, faith, fable, and politics. Exploring the intersection between objectivity and utility in belief. A community for conversation and critical thinking. Not the place for personal therapy.

Unethical ethics for counselors

Some of the counseling organizations, and ethics pushed to counseling students in particular, are woke and well... unethical. Any organization pushing social justice, equity, and gender affirming therapy is unethical by their own standards. It is an imposition of a particular set of values.

Activist Academia
The state of peer reviewed studies: a snippet.

This is an excerpt from a 2020 peer reviewed “study”.

“Across social media, radical right-wing activist communities have emerged (Freelon et al., 2020). A growing subset of these activist spaces is organized around regressive forms of gender associated with misogyny and antifeminist talk and advocacy (Eddington, 2020; Ging, 2019; Jarvis & Eddington, 2021; Marwick and Lewis, 2017). These types of spaces are often sustained through identifications of antifeminism, misogyny, rape apologism, and far-right political conspiracies; these spaces have flourished on some social networking platforms thanks to “libertarian” freedom of speech ideas, limited content moderation, and U.S. federal protections against platforms that host these spaces (Marwick and Caplan, 2018; Marwick and Lewis, 2017).”

Notice how accusations are made without any substantiation. Just because something is framed a certain way does not make it true. I consider this study to be at least as radical as the content it examined. Radical is not an objective word on it's own, neither is regressive. An empirical study should be free from emotionally manipulative language; refraining from proudly displaying preconceptions and prejudice to, at the very least, suggest that the project was not a narcissistic exercise in confirmation bias.

I love how Libertarian is in quotation marks, suggesting that freedom of speech is a radical and dangerous fringe idea. The radical is the academic activist peddling this pseudo-intellectual propaganda. The premise and leapt-to conclusions about the lack of rationale behind men’s feelings is a MAJOR issue in the counseling world. Feminism claims to be about equality but dismisses men’s issues and disparages men as the problem.
